About Max

A native of New York, Max Weiss attended Bennington College where she double majored in music and literature. After graduating she moved to Baltimore, where she worked as a staff writer, columnist, and film critic for the Baltimore City Paper. Max wrote the award-winning “Nice Girl” humor column for the Baltimore City Paper. In 1992, Max began a longstanding relationship with Baltimore’s talk radio behemoth, AM 1090 WBAL. For six years, she co-hosted a weekly movie review show with Allan Prell. Today, she does a twice-weekly pop culture commentary segment with WBAL’s “Dave Durian and the Morning Team.” In 1994, Max was hired by Baltimore magazine as a staff writer. She now serves as the magazine’s managing editor. Max is the weekly film critic for WBAL-TV and is a frequent television guest, emcee, and lecturer in the Baltimore region. She is on the board of the Maryland SPCA and lives in Baltimore with her Mini Cooper, MC Sparky.

About Mike

A resident of New Jersey, Mike Mayo is an encyclopedia of knowledge on film and home video. He has contributed to The Washington Post and The Roanoke Times, where he wrote the column, "It Came From the Video Store." He has written a number of books on film for the VideoHound series, including Video Premieres, Horror Show, and War Movies. He contributed to Cult Flicks and Trash Pics, Sci-Fi Experience, and, most recently, Groovy Movies. Mike has become a leading authority on DVDs, editing three editions of The VideoHound DVD Guide, and serving as a judge for the Video Software Dealers Association annual DVD Technical Awards competition. He has also been a judge in the National Film Challenge and the NYC Midnight Movie Making Madness contest. Mike has been happily married to his sweetie Marcia for more years than either of them would care to admit.
